Rules

Here are the Senior BR Spring rules (also on the Senior BR section of the www.herndonbaberuth.com website

Regular Sr. Babe Rules  (see below in black) apply with the following changes in Red.
- Courtesy runner for catcher & pitcher will be used with two outs.
- We will bat thoughout the line up, this means batting lineup will included all players showing up for game. 
- Free substitution will be allowed between all players in field
- All players will play a minimum of two innings by the end of the fourth inning.
- No new inning starts after 2 hours
- All games will be called after 2 hours and 15 minutes (drop dead)
- Games may be played with as few as 7 players per team, where open defensive positions may be filled using players from the other team.
- Teams may borrow players from other teams to avoid forfeits.

No won-lost records, standings, or trophies.

 

Field maintenance:  (for NFC games) home prepares, visitor cleans up; home team prepares and cleans up.  All teams clean up the dugout they used.

 

Game balls: three provided by home team.  Home team in third base dugout.

 

Time limit:  no inning starts after 2 hours past scheduled start time; game stops at 2:15 past scheduled start time.  (exception: Monday at SLHS,  stop at 2 hours past scheduled start time.)

 

Batting order:  includes all players present and is fixed at beginning of game.  Latecomers added at bottom of batting line-up as they arrive.

 

Fielders:  free substitution.  All players must play at least three complete innings in the field.  (Exceptions permitted in cases of late arrival/early departure, injury, or discipline.)

 

Pitchers:  if removed as pitcher on second visit, cannot pitch again that game.  If removed as pitcher between innings or on first visit, can re-enter as pitcher one time in that game.

 

Catchers:  courtesy runner with two outs mandatory.

 

Ejection by umpire:  must leave field area and cannot participate in next game.  Report any ejections to League President.

 

Borrowing players:  purpose of fall program is to play, not to forfeit.  Borrowed players must be on the roster of a team in the League, cannot be used as a pitcher, and should not play more innings than players on the roster of the team doing the borrowing.
