During the Spring 2007 season, approximately 60 boys ages 16 through 18 played baseball in the Northern Fairfax County Senior Babe Ruth League (NFC SrBRL). NFC Senior Babe Ruth League is a part of Virginia Babe Ruth District 7.
The NFC Senior Babe Ruth League is comprised of teams of players from the Chantilly, Herndon, and Reston communities and includes players from the same geographical boundaries as the Greater Herndon (13-15) Babe Ruth League. The NFC Senior Babe Ruth League takes advantage of the Chantilly Youth Association’s administrative capabilities in order to facilitate the registration and organization of the League.
The Public High School Districts that are included in the NFC Senior Babe Ruth League geographical boundaries are Chantilly, Herndon, South Lakes, Westfield, and portions of Oakton and Fairfax. Many of the program’s players play at the high school level and some go on to become college athletes. Our program’s support of the high school programs is primarily in the form of work and improvements to their baseball facilities. In return, the schools and their coaches have been very supportive of our program through the use of their facilities and their time.
Many of our players will be participating in a spring sport at their high schools, but that does not preclude them from playing Babe Ruth baseball. The season does not start until after the completion of the spring high school seasons. For example, the high school Varsity baseball season ends in late May/early June. The Senior Babe Ruth season does not start until the following week. Most high school players return to play for Senior Babe Ruth teams after the completion of their high school season.
NFC Senior Babe Ruth had great success for the Spring 2007 season as the NFC Senior Babe Ruth 16-18 All-Star team swept through the District Tournament to become the District VII Champions. Their success didn’t stop there as they played through the Virginia State Tournament and lost in the final game of the Virginia Babe Ruth State Championship to place as State Runner-Up.
We look forward to seeing everyone back out again this spring. If you have any questions or concerns about the coming season, please feel free to contact Aaron Hostetler, League President and Commissioner of Northern Fairfax County Senior Babe Ruth at NFC_SrBRL@comcast.net.
