This year CYA continues the Prep Program begun in 2001-02 for a select group of players in the 4th and 5th grade. This program is for those boys and girls who want a higher level of competition than that provided by the House recreational program but who are not yet ready for Select. Players in this league are selected by the coaches through tryouts (held after the Select tryouts) from all those who sign up initially for the Prep program together with those who signed up for but did not make one of the 10 and Under Select teams. Both a Boys and Girls Prep are being offered this year.
The primary goal of this program is to get players ready for the higher level of competition in the County Select program. Players on the 6-8 teams in the Boys or Girls Prep Leagues have more practices than those in the House league and will play more games. Teams will play by the County Select League rules (though, unlike the County league, players will be guaranteed one full quarter of play per game). Prep teams have 8 players per team.
Games are held in local Chantilly area school gyms. In some instances, there may be both a weekday and weekend game. Practices are held during the week between the hours of 5:00 - 9:00 PM.
