A large part of happiness and success in life comes from what we provide to others.  There is so much Chantilly Youth Cheerleading can do in this community ~ and further if we unite and commit to making a difference! 

We are proud to say that in 2006 CYA Cheerleading reached out in the following areas:

1)  We donated 221 of our old cheer uniforms and poms to the San Francisco Brown Bombers, sponsored by the District Attorney’s Office/San Francisco Government.  This organization is comprised of under-privileged families and kids who had no means to develop a cheer competition squad.  Because of our donation, this organization is now able to take what little funds they do have, and pay for practice space ~ and perform and compete for many years to come!  Our old uniforms had the monogram of ‘CYA’; and this new cheer squad is now called ‘ California Youth Association’.

2)  The second half of our old cheer uniforms and poms went to a youth organization in New Orleans called the Madison Youth Boosters, which is sponsored by the American Youth Football & Cheer (AYF).  They lost their storage facility and everything in it during the Katrina storm last year.  Our 221 uniforms and poms have made it possible for the cheer program to continue.  Among one of the names they are considering to match the ‘CYA’ monogram ~~ ‘Call Your Angels’!

3) Our June 10, 2006 CHEERS TO COACHES! Seminar held in honor of our dear friend and coach, Terry Knight, who passed away this year from cancer brought youth coaches and directors from local youth associations including CYA, SYA and  VYI; as well as coaches from local high schools, including Madison and Broad Run High School.  We had 5 speakers including the Special Teams Coach from the Washington Redskins and the President and Director of CHEER! Michigan .  We are proud to announce that from this seminar we were able to send a donation of $610 to the UVA Cancer Research Center in Charlottesville, Virginia ~ in Terry Knight’s name.
