COACHES MEETING:   Your child’s Coach will have a meeting for parents and cheerleaders in mid to late August, AFTER the Cheer Camp.  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU ATTEND YOUR COACHES MEETING.  At this meeting, your Cheer Coach will discuss the requirements of the program, practice schedules and what is expected of your cheerleader and you during the season.   Please cooperate and offer your help to your child’s Coach.  This program is successful because of her/his unselfish contributions!

  • PRACTICE:  Cheer practice will begin during the mid to last weeks of August.  Squads will practice 2-3 times per week (depending on the age group), and the time and place of practice will be determined by the Coach.  Additional practices will be required - and are mandatory -  to prepare for special events throughout the cheer season.
  • GAMESYour child will be cheering for a CYA Football Team.  Squads are assigned to teams after the Football draft has been completed.  The season runs from August through November depending on how well your football team performs.  Games are usually on Saturday’s at various times and fields.  There have been games, however, that have fallen on a week-night or Sunday.  A schedule will be provided as soon as possible (after Labor Day) from Fairfax County.  CYA does not prepare the game schedules;  therefore, please be patient in waiting for this information.   NOTE:  All Cheerleaders MUST attend practices and games.  Chronic absence, lack of participation and/or tardiness at practices and/or games will result in the Cheerleader not being eligible for performances.
