Ready, Set, Go!!!
Rugby is in full swing - Registration is still open - BRING FRIENDS
For the remainder of the season, we will be at Rocky Run MS (4400 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly, VA) for practices and home games. We will practice on Tuesday evenings during the month of July from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. This will also be our home game field for July.
Tonight is our last practice of the 2011 season. We will be at Rocky Run MS at our usual time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
Please do not send your child to practice tonight without water. Do not depend on the coaches to have extra water, as this is not the case.
The U9/U11 coaches (Arias and Myers) tried to line up a make-up game for this evening, but could find no takers. I think the Chantilly U9/U11 boot camp and fitness routines have scared off the other teams. Way to go guys.
Attached, also find an update tournament schedule for this weekend from Coach Perdu.
Touch (our U9/U11 teams) will play on Saturday. Please be at Hooes Road Park, 7233 Hooes Road, Springfield, VA (Directions) by 8:00 am and check in with your coaches.
Tackle (our U13/U15/U17) will play Sunday. Please be at Hooes Road Park, 7233 Hooes Road, Springfield, VA (Directions) by 8:00 am and check in with your coach. Important – Our U15 athletes will be playing on Prince Williams team. They will finally get a chance to show us what they can do against kids their own age.
For the tournaments this weekend, they will last all day, so please plan on being there to play. Bring plenty of water, food, sun screen, etc. and if anyone has an awning/tent that they can bring on either/both days, please do so, as shade is scarce at the venue.
Finally, we will have an end-of-season party shortly, with details to follow.
See you all tonight and good luck this weekend to all.
FEAR THE PURPLE!

The summer competition will begin June 25th and continue through the end of July. I will post the schedule of games as soon as it has been decided (week of June 6th). Games are usually Thursday nights and Saturday morning. The end of the season tournament is scheduled for July 30 and 31, 2011. The location has not been determined yet.
Toward the end of June and all during July, we will be practicing on Tuesdays and playing games on Thursdays and Saturdays. We will be given 2 fields at Poplar Tree Park for the month of July for all 3 practices weekly (or games for some of the age groups).
Finally, we will be selling Rugby balls this season and giving a free t-shirt and rugby shorts to all registered players. In prior season, we have given a ball to all players, and since many of us are returning players, we thought we would change it up a bit this season. If you have a ball, please bring it to practice on Thursday. If not, no worries. We will have plenty to hold practice and when we get them in, we will be able to sell you one for a nominal fee.
if you have any friends in the neighborhood who you think might like to try Rugby this June and July, bring them along with you.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Didier Perdu at dperdu@cox.net or 703-606-3812 (C) and/or Rick Arnold at rick@rarnold.com or 703.851.7357 (C).
Play Rugby!!! Every player is a Running Back!!!!
Are you looking for:
-
A fast paced game?
-
A continuous game with few stoppages?
-
A game with frequent changes of possession?
-
A game in which everyone can run, pass, catch, and kick the ball?
-
A game in which everyone can score?
-
Physical contact?
If you answered "yes" to most of the above, Rugby just might be the game for you!
Rugby has the speed of basketball, the contact of football, and the strategy of chess.
Registration for Summer 2011 opens Sunday April 24th!!!
Season 6 is on...
CYA is pleased to announce that Youth Rugby is offered again to the Chantilly community in Summer 2011.
Note that Rugby is a SUMMER sport. The season starts the first week of June and ends the first weekend of August, just before the beginning of the football season. Rugby is an excellent way of preparing yourself for the Football season (fitness, tackling, ...).
Registration will remain open through the end of July (a $10 late fee will be added for registration made after June 30th) .
Rugby is open to boys and girls who were born in 1994 or later (you are not turning 18 this year). U9 and U11 players (younger than 11 years) play the touch (non-contact) version of Rugby, coed. U13, U15, and U17 can play the touch and tackle versions of Rugby. Touch teams are coed, tackle teams are not.
Click here to register. Please do not wait to register
If you have problems to pay the registration fee, the CYA Rugby program offers a limited number of scholarships with a reduced fee. Please contact Didier Perdu for details.
Along with registration, some forms need to be downloaded, printed, filled, signed and given to me as soon as possible. Click on the paperwork link on the left banner to have access to these forms.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Didier Perdu at dperdu@cox.net or 703-606-3812 (C)
