Rising U10 Boys Tryouts -- CYA Arsenal Teams
June 9th and 12th

Chantilly Youth Association will be holding tryouts for our rising U10 boys travel teams.  The tryouts will be held on 

  • Tuesday 6/09 from 4:30-6:00 at Word of Grace
  • Friday 6/12 from 6:00-7:30 at Word of Grace

Directions to Word of Grace can be found by clicking here.  Fall 2009 rising U10 players generally have birthdates between 8/1/1999 and 7/31/2000.   If attending please contact Andy Vera at avera@spisoccer.com.

CYA Fusion (Rising U14 Girls)

The CYA Fusion, a rising U14 Girls ODSL team, coached by Ed Miller and trained by Soccer Performance International (SPI) is looking to add a few players to our roster for the upcoming fall season.  The Fusion is a close-knit, supportive team that truly enjoys the sport and the competitive level ODSL provides.  We will be holding a tryout session for interested players on Sunday, June 28th from 7:30 to 9PM at the CYA Word of Grace facility in Chantilly.  Interested players are encouraged to attend.  Please contact Rich Schwarzkopf, CYA Fusion Team Manager at FusionTM@verizon.net with any questions and to provide contact information.  Directions to the Word of Grace facility can be found at the following location:  http://www.chantillyyouth.org/soccer/Fields/index_E.html

 

United States Youth Soccer Region 1 Premier League
CYA Firecats

Congratulations to the CYA Firecats.  They were accepted into the USYS Region 1 Premier League for Spring 09 play.   For those of you who don’t know,  the USYS Region 1 Premier League consists of the top 16 teams competing throughout the mid-atlantic and northeast states.  Region 1 consists of teams from Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and US Youth Soccer - Europe.  The competition is designed to allow the best teams in Region 1 to play each other in a league format.  Way to Go Firecats!  We know that you will represent CYA well!

CYA Players Recognized Internationally

Wilson Mendez and Ryan Abbott have been selected to attend a formal tryout this August with Alfonsine Calcio outside of Ravenna, Italy.  Both were brought to the attention of international scouts by Soccer Performance International.  We wish both Ryan and Wilson the best of luck in their future soccer endeavors.

State Selections
Congratulations to the CYA players who were selected into the State Olympic Development Program.  The Olympic Development Program is a US Youth Soccer initiative to identify high caliber, elite players.  Ultimately, this program will lead to increased success for the US National Teams. 
 
We are very proud of you!  Natalie, Noah, Christie, Meredith, Stefanie, Hanna, Haley, Kaylee, Danielle, and Laila all currently play CYA Travel Soccer.  Both Noah  and Laila began in CYA’s recreational program and then graduated to the travel program.
 
District Selections
 
Great Job to Kenneth Hippe and Katelyn Hurlock as well.  Both of these players were district selections and came through the CYA recreational program.
Fall 2008 Division Winners
CYA Premier, Hotshots & Rumble
A hearty "Great Job" to  the U17 Premier, U13 Hotshots, and the U13 Rumble.  These teams won their seasonal divisions and will be "moving up" in the Spring.  Way to Go!!
Legacy Program is Going Strong
U9 Arsenal, White
In their first season of play, the U9 Arsenal, White did not lose one NCSL match.  Way to go boys!  Keep up the good work. 
ODSL Sportsmanship Award Winners
2007-2008

Congratulations to all the CYA teams that have been recognized as superior sportsmanship award winners.  This award is a collective tribute to the coaches, managers, parents and players.  You have represented both your team and the club well.  Games were won and lost but you accepted both with dignity and grace.

Did you know that U12s are playing 8 vs. 8 now?
NCSL, WAGS, and ODSL have approved the change which will take effect in the Fall.  NCSL and WAGS will play with a 21 foot goal and at least a 50X75 yard field.  Why play 8 instead of 11 on a side at U12? Click here to find out!
