CYA Soccer Supports Centerville-Clifton-Chantilly Relay For Life

http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=24868&team_id=621193

On May 22-23, 2010 the American Cancer Society will host the first Relay For Life in the Chantilly area at Centerville High School. Relay For Life events are held overnight as individuals and teams camp out at the school track with the goal of keeping at least one team member on the track at all times throughout the evening. Relay brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, faith-based groups . . . people from all walks of life – all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s efforts to save lives by helping people stay well, by helping them get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.

Uusing the link above you can go to the event web page of the first CYA Soccer based team, The Incredibles.  We ask that you particiapte in some way.  You can join this team - we would love to have you.  You could form your own team - again, the more the merrier!  You could donate to any of the teams in the event.

Cancer touches all our lives.  Let’s fight back, be active, have a voice and make a difference.

CYA Spring Soccer 2010 Update

CYA Soccer Fundraising Program

CYA Soccer needs your help!

The economy continues to cause issues for many families in Chantilly.  The number of scholarship requests we receive increases every season yet we continue to be fully committed to making sure that every child who wants to play soccer in CYA will have that opportunity.

Now there is a way that we can all help!  CYA Soccer has acquired the help of Fund Us Now!  Fund Us Now provides gourmet coffee in a monthly subscription at a rate of $8.99 per 12 oz. bag.  The coffee is delicious and the best part is $3 from every bag sold will go to CYA Soccer!  Instead of paying retail to buy coffee at the grocery store or coffee shop, you can get CYA Soccer Labeled coffee and feel good about supporting the program.

CYA Soccer has a few thousand families in our program and if we can just sell 1000 bags per month, that’s $36,000 per year to help with scholarships, equipment costs, field maintenance and many other projects that make CYA Soccer a safe and fun activity for our community.  Just think, if every family in CYA Soccer committed to 2 bags per month, that would amount to roughly 6000+ bags of coffee per month.  And this doesn’t even account for extended family and friends!

Please help by signing up for a bag (or a few bags!) today!  The direct link to the CYA Store on the Fund Us Now site is www.fundusnow.com/chantillyyouth20151.  To sign up, simply enter your email address and set up a password.  Once you are in the CYA Store, you will select your coffee and then click on the button that says "Soccer".  The CYA Football program is participating in this fundraiser as well so if you have kids in Football, feel free to support that sport as well!

Please pass this link on to all of your family and friends around the United States.  The more we sell, the more we earn for the club.  This is the easiest fundraiser we have ever used and with all of our help, will prove to be the most lucrative!  The best part of all is it requires almost no volunteer labor!

Thanks for supporting CYA Soccer!

CYA Soccer - AC Cesena!
Affiliation Established 2009

CYA Soccer has spent the past several years exploring ways to expand educational opportunities for our kids and has invited several European clubs/trainers to spend time here working with our kids.  As many of our members know, we have had some exceptional camps over the past few summers by trainers from Holland, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, England and Italy.   In all of these places and many other countries around the world, there is tremendous passion for soccer and our desire in CYA is to expose our players/coaches to that passion and inspire them to learn and grow.

Foremost among our endeavor to find a club to affiliate with is our shared committment to education.  As administrators, parents and coaches, we are constantly reminded that our primary function is to "teach" and we are extremely excited to work with AC Cesena as they are renowned for their committment to education and player development.

An important feature in developing players is developing coaches and this relationship will provide our coaches with the opportunity to travel to Italy and participate in training scenarios with the AC Cesena coaching staff.  CYA will also invite AC Cesena staff to join us here in Chantilly throughout the year to work with our coaches and players.  Additionally, CYA Players will have the opportunity to travel to Italy each summer and train with AC Cesena youth teams!

This affiliation would not have been possible if it weren’t for Soccer Performance International (SPI).  As you all know, SPI has been our exclusive training organization for nearly 8 years.  Andy Vera, who runs SPI, has traveled back and forth to Cesena twice over the past several months to meet with all of the directors at AC Cesena and discuss a long term scenario for CYA as the "host" club in the United States.  AC Cesena has invited SPI to work with them exclusively in the U.S. to establish additional ways to provide educational and cultural exchanges between clubs here and in Italy.  The possiblities are truly endless!

To obtain all of the information concerning the CYA - AC Cesena Affiliation, please click on the link located on the left side of the screen.  Over the coming months, we will be updating these pages to introduce our members to all of the opportunities that are available.

This is a very exciting time for CYA Soccer!

CYA Soccer Website
Full of Updates for Fall 2009!

CYA Soccer Fans!

Please take a minute to check out all of the updates we have made to the CYA Soccer Pages recently.  You should be able to find all of the information you need for the Upcoming Fall 2009 Season by clicking on one of the headings you see on the left side of the screen.

As a brief Overview, CYA Soccer has four major components - Travel Soccer, Senior Level (U11 - U19), Junior Level (U8 - U10) and Bantam (U5 - U7).  Each component has a "Director" as listed Below:

Travel - Mark Abbott (soccer@chantillyyouth.org)

Senior - Lisa Bishop (bishop.lisa@gmail.com)

Junior - Brian King (brian.king@erg.com)

Bantam - Stuart Flower (lightningcoach@cox.net)

If you have specific questions, please contact one of these directors via email.

Additionally, CYA Soccer has an FAQ page which you will find in the column on the left side of the screen.

Ultimately, we are trying to insure that the website is kept up to date and full of information you need throughout the season.  As volunteers, we would prefer to minimize the direct email by having all of your questions answered on this website.  Please remember that when you contact a coordinator, there may a little time lapse in a response - especially during the summer months!

See you all in the Fall!

Be a CYA Field Boss

CYA Soccer is looking for motivated and responsible teens who want to give back to the game they love and their community by caring for a local soccer field.  Responsibilities include painting lines, checking that flags and nets are in place and in good condition, making sure trash gets into bins, communicating with our Director of Field Maintenance, Michael Mirda to resolve issues and maintain supply levels, and generally looking after your local field.  You could even add a recycling bin (provided) if you are willing to empty it – an added bonus for a cleaner, greener Chantilly.

CYA Soccer is a user of many of the local rectangular fields and we would love to have your help maintaining them.  You track your hours on the sheet provided and we gratefully sign it at the end of the season or earlier if needed for school credit.  You will also receive a certificate of appreciation from CYA Soccer for your hard work and dedication.

Please contact Lisa Bishop at bishop.lisa@gmail.com if you are interested and to select a field.  By volunteering for 1.5 hours per week, you can make a difference!
