CYA TENNIS, SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL 2010
HOUSE LEAGUES: Three 6-week sessions (choose one)
House League
Session 1: June 2 - July 13
Session 2: July 19-August 26
Session 3: September 8-October 19
Program meets twice a week for one hour for six weeks between the hours of 4-8 pm. Practice times will be determined by tennis coordinator separated by age and skill level. Practices will meet either on Monday and Wednesday, or on Tuesday and Thursday. First meeting of the week is a skill development session, second meeting each week is supervised play. Game and rules are modified to meet age and skill level. Modified tennis play will be based on the USTA national quickstart tennis program. Info on this program can be found by going to www.quickstarttennis.com. House league age range is age 5-16.
The CYA house tennis league is designed for children with no or very limited tennis experience. IF YOUR CHILD CAN ALREADY PLAY REAL TENNIS FROM THE BASELINE, YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO ENROLL THEM IN THE TRAVEL

Summer travel league will practice on Saturday afternoons. Saturday practices will continue until public school lets out. Once school is out, practices will be twice a week for one hour during the week from 3-4 pm either on Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. The Summer travel program plays in the USA Junior Team Tennis league of Northern Virginia. Information about this league can be found by going to www.novausta.org. Matches are played on weekends from mid-June through the beginnning of August.
Minimum requirements: you should be able to maintain a slow rally from the baseline, can consistently get a serve in play from the baseline, basic understanding of scoring and positioning in both singles and doubles.
Fall travel league will practice on Saturday afternoons only from 2-4 pm. The program will also offer participants an opportunity to compete in one or more tournaments in the area during the course of the program (optional, tournament entry fees in addition to the program fee)
